6 New Products That I’m Excited About (And You May Be Too)

montage of six health food products

Since following Bee’s plan, I’ve been more conscious of letting my body detoxify on all levels. Our bodies are great natural detoxifiers (that’s a whole other post) so I’m trying to avoid products that interfere with this sacred process.

Much to my dismay, unhealthy products are everywhere! Even in my local health food store I see:

  • Laundry detergent and shampoos with sodium lauryl sulfate
  • Baby food prepared with instant grains that are not properly prepared
  • Unsoaked nuts roasted in dangerous vegetable oils
  • Olives soaked in conventional vinegars
  • Salad dressing made with canola oil
  • Bacon cured with sugar
  • Gelatos with high fructose corn syrup

So I’m always on the hunt for new products that are simple, clean and “pro-healing.”

Here are six new (to me) products that I’m excited about.

Mediterranean Organic Sun-dried Tomatoes. Delicious, flavor-enhancing to any dish, and healthy! Ingredients include: organic sun-dried tomatoes, organic extra virgin olive oil, and organic herbs

jar of mustardEden Organic Brown Mustard. Yummy, delicious, and no nasty vinegars or sugars. Tastes great with US Wellness Liverwurst. Ingredients include: organic whole mustard seed, organic apple cider vinegar, water, eden sea salt

jar of Skin ExfoliatorTropical Traditions Skin Exfoliator. You’d be shocked to see what’s in some of your favorite beauty products… Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Trioleate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, YUCK.

Did you know that our skin absorbs everything we put on it? Best to use simple products that won’t cause you any harm.

My husband and I have been using Kiss My Face Olive Oil soap for years due to its simple ingredients (saponified olive oil, water, sodium chloride, citric acid as a natural pH balance).

The healthy facial scrub mentioned above is great. Ingredients include: sea salt, organic virgin coconut oil, organic jojoba, organic virgin palm oil, organic essential oils of orange, tangerine, lemon, peppermint, and spearmint. So good you can eat. My skin feels “alive” after using… buzzing from the good nutrients.

Tropical Traditions Pure Moisturizing Cream. Makes your skin as soft as a baby’s bottom. Ingredients include: purified water, organic virgin coconut oil, plant based emulsifying wax, palm stearic, grapefruit seed extract, beeswax, and organic virgin palm oil.

photo of Roll-on DeodorantTropical Traditions All Natural Roll-on Deodorant. Commercial deodorants are loaded with harmful ingredients, including aluminum, which has been linked to cancer, autoimmune disorders, and Alzheimer’s disease. But, for me, finding an alternative has been challenging. Some people have had good luck with the Crystal which is composed of natural mineral salts but not me. After much experimentation, I found that the only thing that consistently works for me is coconut oil. It works like a charm and I never have body odor as a result. Problem? The oil stains all of my clothes! But, my problem is now solved after I discovered this product from Tropical Traditions. Ingredients include: purified water, organic virgin coconut oil, organic jojoba, plant based emulsifying wax, grapefruit seed extract, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), and organic essential oils of rosewood, geranium, cedarwood and patchouli.

package of Sprouted Pumpkin SeedsLastly, I’m loving Go Raw Sprouted Pumpkin Seeds. They’re delicious, nutritious and properly prepared. Did you know that nuts and seeds have a protective coating on them that inhibits enzyme production? This is Nature’s way to protect the seed and enhance its survival rate.

Not only does this make them incredibly difficult to digest, they also end up being an anti-nutrient since they block the body from absorbing other minerals. But, there’s a simple way to safely unlock the nutrition of nuts and seeds. It includes soaking in a salty medium to dissolve the enzyme inhibitors and then drying at low heat. The Inca’s intuitively knew this… they were very careful and patient in their preparation of their pumpkin seeds or pepitas as they soaked them in salt and laid them in the sun to dry naturally. Today, we can do the same by soaking in sea salt and then drying in a dehydrator or a warm oven. The Go Raw Sprouted Seeds do exactly that and since they’re dried under 105°, they’re raw and nutritious. They’re pricey but well worth the treat!

Hi there! I have never done any research on sodium laureth sulfate and have been using 7th generation laundry soap for about 2 years now–it’s sold in Target and one of the health food stores I shop at. What is a good recommended laundry soap? Thank You, Phyllis

Hi Phyllis!

I like Ecos Liquid Laundry Detergent. I used to buy Seventh Generation until I learned that it had SLS in it! What a bummer and I was really surprised as their other products are good.

Hope this helps!
Genevieve
